Blog 5: Proud to present “iberry”

         “iberry” is a Thai ice-cream brand, which is popular as real Thai ice-cream, and delicious desserts. People may does not think that this brand is a Thai brand, because of their name. I thought the same thing in the past, and I found out later that this is a real Thai brand, own by Thai people, and sell Thai culture through ice-cream.

          Firstly, I was upcoming second year of my university. It was summer vacation, I went to Siam with my old friend, and I bought a book called “Pra-Ju-Buang (ประจุบวก)” or in English “Positive”. It was a book about some inspirations of Thai business owners; one of them is “Kun-Pla” or Miss Pla, the owner of “iberry”. I read her story, and found Thai ice-cream band that it was born from her love and her big brother. It started by sell her product through other restaurants, and when there was getting more popular, she decided to open an ice-cream shop. This is how I know about iberry information.

          Secondly, it happened in my Small Business Management class. I and my friends we try to think what Thai business we should research for our presentation. I told my friend to present iberry, since I had information about it, and some of my friends have been visited there too. We agreed to do this, and we researched and made a presentation. Our presentation was good, because we had all information, our instructor was satisfied, and we made her interest in iberry.

          Lastly, I and my friend agreed to visit iberry shop to pay them back for made our perfect presentation. Iberry was not making me disappoint, it showed the real taste of Thai flavor such as sourness of passion fruit, smoothness of tamarine or sweetness of coconut milk. I even took my mom to visit there more than five times already. I think what Kun Pla said was true, she made all ice-cream based on the taste of season fruit with natural taste, and it makes iberry be a special in ice-cream. Blog 4: Chocolate Festival by "Swensen's"

          What is your favorite sweet? There are a lot of sweet in the world such as candy, gum, jelly, waffle or lollipop. For me, I love chocolate, especially dark chocolate. This month, "Swensen's" has a new ice-cream festival which is Chocolate festival.

           "Swensen's chocolate festival", this will give you special promotions of Chocolate, special combinations and special menu sets to make you enjoy their festival. There are four new menus recommendation, first it is “Chocolate Crape”, choose one of your favorite ice-cream flavor for one scoop topped with chocolate sauce, sides with crape topped with banana slides, chocolate sauce and seasoning with icing sugar, and eat together with wiping cream, nuts, and chocolate seasoning. Second, it is “Chocolate Angel”, choose one of your favorite ice-cream flavor, eat together with banana slides, nuts, chocolate, wiping cream, chocolate sauce, chocolate cherry, and Swensen's chocolate waffle. Third, it is “Chocolate Heaven”, choose one of your favorite ice-cream flavor for one scoop, eat together with brownie, banana slides, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, wiping cream, chocolate cherry, and Swensen's chocolate waffle. Fourth, it is “Chocolate lava”, choose one of your favorite ice-cream flavor topped with chocolate sauce, sides with chocolate lava cake that when you cut it by your fork, chocolate sauce will come out as it is lava, sides with wiping cream, and seasoning with chocolate, nuts, and icing sugar.

          Therefore, you can see some different in each menus for Swensen's Chocolate festival. I have not visit and try them yet, so I cannot tell you which one is good. Blog 3: Upside down with "Dairy Queen"

               

         When I was a little, I asked my father to buy me an ice-cream cone from some shop in Shopping mall around my house while, we were going to go back to our house. My father was making his face busy, but he still bought me one cone of cookie’n cream my favorite flavor from some famous shop. I was really happy. I licked my ice-cream one time, two times, three times, and it fell from my cone. I was shock, I just licked it for three times, and more important that ice-cream was quite expensive too. After this happened, I always carefully eat my ice-cream cone, because I do not want it happens again.

          I found “Dairy Queen”, when I was about elementary school student. I was watching television, and it was Dairy Queen advertising. It showed “Blizzard”, vanilla ice-cream mix with Oreo cookies crushed in a Dairy Queen paper cup, suddenly a presenter flipped Blizzard upside down, and it stuck to a paper cup. I was surprise, but I was thinking that it may just for advertising, because how in the earth that ice-cream would stuck, and not fell down along gravity power.

          One day, I saw Dairy Queen opened in a shopping mall around my house, and I made up my mind to try it. I ordered small cup of Oreo Blizzard, while I was waiting, I looked at the seller who was busying with my order, she was pouring some vanilla ice-cream into a cup, pouring some crushed Oreo cookies, and finally she took a cup to a machine. It sounded as it mixed, and crushed Oreo cookies more with ice-cream, I did not know what that machine supposed to call. When she stopped a machine, she used spoon to put all blizzard into a cup, finally she took my blizzard to me, she turned my blizzard upside down for second, and said “Oreo Blizzard is here”.

          All in all, Dairy Queen was not joking anything, I proved it myself, since I was a little. Nowadays, I and my friends still eat Dairy Queen ice-cream, since a price is not much, the nutrients are fine, easy to buy, and most important their Blizzard ice-cream, it surly an upside down ice-cream!

Blog 2: Ice-cream’s Ideas with "Icedea"

  

          When you think of ice-cream, what comes to your mind? Vanilla? Cookie’s and cream? Or Chocolate? Whatever it is, it always comes with a scoop inside paper cup or on a glass bowl, and topping with wiping cream, cheery, or nuts. But, you can not see only that in “Icedea” ice-cream shop.

          “Icedea” is a Thai brand ice cream shop which shows the difference idea in ice-cream. I am going to start with ice-cream flavors. We may see vanilla or chocolate as we can see in other ice-cream shop, but have you ever heard about wasabi flavor? Ice cream wasabi will give you a green color, smell of the spice of wasabi, taste of soft wasabi, and feeling of wasabi that will be spread into your mouse to your nose. Second flavor is the representative of alcohol flavor which is “Kamikaze”. Kamikaze ice-cream will give you a soft blue color, a fine smell of little alcohol, taste of little alcohol mixture as you drink a soft kamikaze, but you will not get drunk easily. Third, how about try Thai flavor such as “Kao-tom-mad” or sticky coconut rice with banana and black beans. It will give you a white color from rice and coconut milk, and black color from black beans as freckles on white skin, a smell of Thai sweet as coconut milk smell, and taste of a Thai dessert as Kao-tom-mad that will spread a taste of sticky coconut rice mix with some texture that give a flavor as black beans.

          Icedea is not only present differences of flavor, it also present differences of product presentations. Firstly, Tonkatsu set, ice-cream is inside a katsu which is covered by breaded and deep fried, serve with fruits that presents a side dishes of Tonkatsu, and eat by chopstick just like Japanese food. Secondly, Milk Juicy NY Steak set; you may imagine a meat steak with grill sauce, toast, French fries, tomato, and cream cheese, buy you will be surprise by the same look but it is an ice cream. Steak made by chocolate ice cream and chocolate cookies doo top with chocolate ice cream and seasoning with cinnamon powder. French fries made by banana cover with sugar.

          All in all, “icedea” shows ideas in ice-cream. It presents creative flavors and creative presentation which will build imagination for customer to enjoy the art of ice-cream.
